Aids Heil, I would like to let you know that I have really enjoyed your previous releases, especially Black Terror Art. Could you give us an update on the status of Snowfall?

Right now we are assembling a full band, and have a session drummer. We have recorded a new release entitled "Death triumphant" but we are unsure when it will be out. Right now we are trying to secure a CD version of BTA. Snowfall only plays together two times a year, so we do not have much time to record things.


Where do you draw your inspiration for Snowfall from?


Everyday life... When I walk on the streets, I see ants, little creatures who scurry about creating something for their master. When I enter the woods I hear the voices of the ancestors calling out, and when I make this art, I feel a kinship and bond with every madman who has ever walked this earth. MY inspiration draws from that which, we, as humans are taught to loathe, we are told to despise, that which is most like us. Rape, Murder, Hate... This is human nature. We seek to show that denial of nature, is stupidity. Morality is in the eye of the beholder.


On your website I noticed that it said something about Snowfall not being a part of any scene. Did you guys just get fed up with all the homosexuals claiming to be Black Metal, but turning out to be just homosexuals?

Lets say this, Snowfall was started to be at first a generic band. We strived to become normal because this is how the scene was. It was better to be normal. After a few years it was annoying to be lumped in with bands who had no vision. They simply wanted to make a racket in a basement and sell it. They had no compassion for our ideas, and today even less so.
As time progressed, we realized we were not like the local bands.
Hellacaust was about eating hamburgers and drinking beer.
most of these bands were just entertainment, where we were ART.
Art has a message.
We strive to be more then just some band who metal-heads bang along to unwary of our goals as artists.


What is your stance on self-mutilation?

I generally cut myself in private or on stage, and I encourage the crowd to cut me and lick my blood. It is quite perverse to the eyes of a holy-man, this site of those who hate god, and who drink my blood, the whole thing I find to be quite arousing.
In private self-mutilation is… more of a sexual thing
I have quite a few scars on my body, and I enjoy tearing my body to shreds.
I despise this thing called "man"
And by actively destroying it, I make a statement to my creator, I shall not respect this arrogant gift of life.


Are there any bands or individuals that have had a profound influence on your band?

Mostly, Hellhammer, the Cure, Bathory, Black Sabbath, Motorhead, Darkthrone
Some might say well these aren’t all back metal
well, they have the right attitude or the right lyrical themes to suit my ideas, and that is what counts, above writing cheesy satanic statements.
We mostly listen to older bands... Kreator, Sodom, Iron Angel, Sarcofago , etc…
those 80's bands are the most pure because they don’t have the stigma of being attached to a scene, back then it was all about being the most extreme, and no one knew each other.
You could do almost anything. Now it is all guarded by bullshit people who want to latch onto BM OR DM instead of listnening to what is truly dark. For us, it is about the concepts.

Your guitarist Dramen plays in the very homoerotic band “Hollow Grave”, how do you feel about this?


He doesn’t play in it anymore, it was a short thing. The band was formed in the idea of angering people who liked us, and Dramen loves people who hate him. He's addicted to conflict. haha.
This band was meant to be a doom metal thing, but became a gothic-wine band
so he left
the band no really longer exists
it only was active for maybe 5 months maybe 6. But they all have disbanded
as far as what I care about it, I don’t honestly care, its not a black metal thing so why should I care? If he wants to be involved with something stupid, that’s his choice.


What are your thoughts on bands that claim to be Black Metal, but dress like ordinary fags, with gay short haircuts, and skateboard shoes, and baggy pants etc…?

It's missing the point, black metal is mostly about imagery. The make up/corpse-paint is adapted from an old edda where odin has his oskorie (army of the dead) dress in war-paint, and the spikes are form Vikings who used it because we had only one edged swords, so if someone got close, you bashed in their heads with the gauntlet.
This imagery revives our ancestry
and shows we are not fit with Christian interpretation.
If you dress normal, you ARE normal, and you do not enter the world of black metal. You fail to honor the meaning of the songs, and fail to understand the importance of imagery as a crucial element in black metal.
Therefore you are a posuer.


What band would you like to challenge to a street fight, and why?

Cradle of Filth, because they are fat and gothic. A bad combo, and they are quite funny. Two of us could take on the 6 or 7 of them easily.
Either that or some pop band, to make a name for us

Well, we’re no joke. We have our stupid moments but doesn't everyone? But I can say in fight we are the band you don't want to face, we use broken bottles, knives, glass, we'll kick you in the balls and bite your throat. We're assholes.


You guys played a show a while back, which unfortunately I could not attend, how did that go, and do you have any plans to continue playing live shows?

We have decided that about once a year we will do shows. It went well as a show because the fans licked my blood, and actually cut me. They were into it and the mosh pit became a brawl, which I quite liked.
However, I broke my knee 30 seconds into our set, and the Rocking Argentos are to blame
They obviously were afraid to cut themselves, because they used corn syrup dyed red.
I slipped on it and broke the bottom half of my kneecap off, and had to do the rest of the show on the broken knee
we also were paid half of what we were told we'd get and only got 8 free drinks.
So from now on we don’t do shows unless we are guarantied what we are promised, and we only do one show per year/

NSBM, Black Metal or not? Once and for all, you decide.

Well you see, I don't mind it because to me the hatred of man is what decides if it is black metal. Yes NSBM is black metal, they just have more of a political leaning. I prefer bands who are hateful of all man, but NSBM is fine with me.

Because we have big cocks! I don't know, if you don’t like it, don’t listen. I honestly was surprised to see anyone at our gig, much less buying our crappy tape. I just create what I like, and if someone wants to listen great, if not we will continue to piss off people until we die. Thanks to fans who bought our album though, because we need drug money.

Are there any other bands around your area, or around in general, that you think are doing something unique and worth taking notice of?

No, not at all. Everyone is a complete moron. I met the guy in Nachtmystium and I've never been so bloody well disappointed in all my life.

What are your thoughts on drum machines in Black Metal?

drum machines? well they sound like shit, as obvious from our demo. That’s a complete turd. We had a drummer, but he couldn't make it and we had one day left before I was to leave the country. Now though, we have session drummers in case something like that happens

Nihilism and reality.

Our message is destruction. Drugs, sex, death, violence.... Do what you wish. If you don’t get caught, the only thing stopping you is morality. And that can be easily avoided.


What are your feelings on black people in Black Metal?

Honestly, most of them seem to be very into just the music, which is stupid. If I see one generally as devoted as I am to hate, then I will reconsider my opinion, but so far all the ones I have met seem to be simply involved in a musical state, which is no better then being a nu- metal kid who recently found Dimmu.

What about the guitarist from Blasphemy?

I don't know him, and haven’t read his views. He may be truly hateful or may be a "poser". I look at actions and views more then skin colour. If he showed true hatred and contempt, then I would view him as equal. If not, he’s the same as all the rest.

Insincerity
Many don't care about our goal anymore. It's as if they've given up the fight before they've began. To people its not art anymore, its entertainment, and that is where you are no longer welcome. Go watch a horror film if you want to be entertained, if you want to kill someone, listen to black metal.


Who’s body would you most like to exhume for desecratory purposes, and why?

Jesus. I think it’s obvious. I'd love to prance about in his flesh, drugged, drunken, and causing havoc amongst the local town.

Are there any releases coming out soon that you are especially looking forward to?

Nope. I haven’t heard anything black metal, or music-wise for that matter, worth listening to. I'm a bit curious to what the new Mutiilation sounds like, but I've heard they sound like shit, so I am not looking forward to any release. Although I'd like to hear more form me mates in Funeral Fog.

Ah, well I’ve heard some things about them, the music in my opinion is ok, not too great, and they seem more of a shock-value band then a real black metal band. I mean, who really cares if you jacked of into a bible? Honestly some of the things I’ve heard cross over from being blasphemous into complete gay porn. That’s a bit too far, if you kill someone or burn a church, ok, but if you spew loads on some guys face, how is that more blasphemous? It's just more GAY.


One of the many things I like about Snowfall is your production. The way your recording is done gives off a great atmosphere and a very “real” feeling. Do you ever plan to do any profession recordings, or do you feel this would hurt the great sound you have been able to capture so far?

Well, we’ve talked about pro-tools, but I despise digital recordings. We don’t rehearse most songs, only the thrashier ones, and generally me and Dramen are a bloody mess when we start. We also get very shit-faced so we can be emotionless as possible.
I would like to keep the 4-track recording, but I am not sure if we will always have that access. However, I can assure you we wont ever become like Marduk.
Atmosphere is our first requirement for our recordings.

What are your feelings on suicide?

It’s great, I mean we did write a song dedicated to it. Honestly, we wrote it hoping some super-fans would off themselves, but it looks like that hasn’t happened yet. I've hung myself a few times and tired other ways but it looks like unless I overdose or lose a fight, I’m not dying anytime soon.
So the world is stuck with me haha.

What are your feelings on USBM?

Some Krieg and Judas Iscariot stuff was good, but nothing has been great. I've not been impressed with anything from the US really. All of those I've met in bands form the us have turned to be hacks as well.


On the inside of the sleeve of “Black Terror Art” there is a quote by Carl Panzram. For those who do not know, who is Carl Panzram and why is this quote significant to you?

Carl Panzram was a ball of hate. He was a barbarian in the 20th century. He blew up a Christian home school when he was 14, and raped and killed many Christians. He hated Christianity with all his might, and was the last true barbarian. He inspires us because even in the time of economic wealth, a barbarian still existed, raping, killing, pillaging.
